Rachael Mueller

I’m a PhD student in Human Centered Computing and a graduate research assistant at the Health Data Lab. My interest in the intersection between technology and health stemmed from my past work as a narrative designer. I spent over eight years creating computer and virtual reality-based simulation training for medical professionals on topics ranging from suicide prevention to cognitive behavioral therapy and food insecurity. My experience taught me that technology has the power to augment human capabilities in ways that can quite literally save lives. While my current work is now more focused on large-scale information systems than individual behavior change, I aim to always keep the human element at the core of any technological tool. I’m grateful to be working with Dr. Stockwell and the rest of the Health Data Lab team to improve the lives of patients and healthcare providers.
